Backup & Restore (Local Database)

Backup & Restore
How to export a database snapshot and restore from a .db backup.

Definitions
  • Export: Downloads a complete database snapshot as a .db file.
  • Restore: Replaces the current database with a backup .db file.
  • Automatic safety copy: Before restore, the system saves a .bak-YYYYMMDD-HHMMSS copy of the current DB.

Export Steps
  1. Go to Admin Hub → Backup & Restore
  2. Click Download backup (.db)
  3. Store the file in a secure location (internal shared drive, encrypted storage, etc.)
Exports generate a consistent snapshot via SQLite VACUUM INTO.

Restore Steps (High Risk)
  1. Confirm you have a current export saved before restoring.
  2. In Restore from backup (.db), choose a .db file.
  3. Click Restore database
  4. Confirm the warning prompt.
  5. After restore, you will be signed out and must log in again.
Important: Restore replaces the database and may remove recent changes. Only restore when you are certain the backup file is the correct source of truth.
